Anschütz has further improved its ECDIS NX with a recent software update. Enhanced functions improve the clear display of the navigational situation and make navigation more efficient and safer.

The new ECDIS NX features include a Prediction Mode which provides an intuitive prediction of the vessel's behaviour, the integration of tidal information and the ability to create new routes based on historical tracks. These features complement existing tools for intelligent route planning and voyage management, including calculations of speed of advance and estimated time of arrival and editable look-ahead zones for safe navigation.

For workboats, offshore vessels and other specialised vessels, there are a number of other surveillance, collaboration and emergency functions that simplify work at sea. These include the definition of area alerts, the rapid creation of search patterns and the calculation of intercept courses.

The modular structure of the ECDIS NX application allows for a seamless adaptation to different requirements and budgets:

• ECDIS NX Compact is a cost-effective solution for compliance with IMO equipment regulations and serves as a prerequisite for paperless navigation. In combination with a transparent configuration, an intelligent installer and a powerful panel PC with all essential interfaces, the installation on board is greatly simplified.
• As part of an Integrated Navigation System (INS) with radar and conning, the ECDIS NX workstation sets the standard for a comfortable and versatile ECDIS. It includes advanced features that are particularly effective in an INS, such as the blind pilotage feature which serves as a unique parallel index planning and execution tool. The workstation is based on standardised small marine computers and an efficient network structure designed for good integrability and high long-term scalability of the system.
• For navies, Naval ECDIS NX is a true Warship ECDIS (WECDIS) with tactical and naval functions in accordance with STANAG 4564 Ed. 3 (April 2017). Based on a proven core of a type-approved and intuitive ECDIS, navies can use additional tailor-made mission features from the areas of tactical overlays, waterspace management or anti-submarine warfare.
