New Naval Radar NX for ANZAC Frigates

- Raytheon Anschütz modernizes radar capabilities for the Royal Australian Navy -

Raytheon Anschütz, a business of Raytheon Technologies, was selected as the supplier for new navigation radar systems within the modernization program of the Royal Australian Navy’s ANZAC frigates.

The delivery will include tailor-made consoles with Raytheon Anschütz’s Naval Radar NX software application, integrated with Terma SCANTER 6002 radars. When completed, Raytheon Anschütz will have modernized eight frigates and three land installations.

“Naval Radar NX is a powerful radar software application and fully type-approved with Terma’s SCANTER surveillance radars,” said Jan Lütt, product manager at Raytheon Anschütz. “Compared to conventional navigation radars, Naval Radar NX can offer much improved performance, as well as tactical features.”

Naval Radar NX extends the classic IMO navigational radar to another level with situational awareness, enabling customers to operate any radar related task from navigation to mission. It uses raw video processing, advanced target tracking and management of navigational and tactical targets, as well as patented clutter suppression and filtering technology to provide a clear, precise radar picture.

Naval Radar NX works as a stand-alone navigation and tactical radar system, but also can be integrated with the WECDIS and the Combat Management System. Naval Radar NX can integrate solid-state surveillance radars as well as classical navigation radars.
