Raytheon Anschütz WINBS for Brazilian frigates

- Raytheon Anschütz has signed a contract to equip the Brazilian Navy’s new Tamandaré-class frigates with warship integrated navigation and bridge systems (WINBS) -

The customized WINBS provides the Brazilian Navy with highly precise, reliable navigational information and advanced naval and tactical functions. The systems also include electrical steering and autopilot, closed circuit television, and GMDSS, the global maritime distress and safety system.

“The WINBS will be based on the same technology proven in the world’s most sophisticated naval programs, but tailored to the needs of the Brazilian Navy,” said Florian Huth, program manager at Raytheon Anschütz, a business of Raytheon Technologies. “The scalable and future-proof system concept of WINBS enables us to support the Navy’s current and future requirements effectively.”

Raytheon Anschütz do Brasil – the center of excellence for navigation and maritime systems integration for Brazilian shipbuilding, shipping and offshore industry – will lead local service activities and act as a customer point of contact for the systems. Commissioning and testing services will take place in Brazil by specially trained Brazilian technicians.

The Tamandaré-class vessels are being built by SPE Águas Azuis, an alliance between thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer Defesa & Segurança and Atech, at thyssenkrupp Estaleiro Brasil Sul, in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil.
