Anschütz introduces ECDIS features for workboats and offshore vessels

With the ECDIS NX, Anschütz offers a versatile Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) with a wide range of functions that make navigation and work under the harshest environmental conditions at sea more efficient and safer. As part of a new ECDIS NX software update, Anschütz has recently introduced several new features, and ECDIS NX is now compliant with the IACS cyber security standards UR E26 & E27. 

In addition to a comprehensive set of functions for route planning, route monitoring and voyage management, ECDIS NX now offers a range of functions for surveillance, collaboration and support in case of emergency. Owners and operators of workboats, offshore vessels or other specialised vessels can supercharge ECDIS NX with the following additional features:

  • The Search and Rescue (SAR) function adds search patterns to ECDIS NX. Navigators can access them quickly and easily in the clearly structured menu, convert them into suitable search tracks and follow them precisely on the ECDIS.
  • ECDIS NX enables users to draw any geometric shape on the chart and add complex alarm rules. Therefore, area alerts can be created in a very flexible and individual way, covering all possible scenarios related to the behaviour of their own ship or the target.
  • ECDIS NX can display the range of its own sensors, such as cameras and sonar, as an overlay (in degrees and distance with hard limits for fade-out).
  • ECDIS NX can provide a target-related dynamic display of an intercept course and the corresponding rendezvous point to calculate a course to a person or object in distress, or to any target entering a restricted area.
  • The "Outhouse" function in ECDIS NX allows the user to define a circle around a position with a configurable radius. Within this area, the user's own vessel is free to move, while still remaining safely accessible to drones and boats.

 

ECDIS NX features a clearly structured user interface and an intuitive operating philosophy. It is available in different versions, ranging from a plug-and-play version with a panel PC for easy installation and retrofitting to a multifunctional workstation. ECDIS NX has a modular structure and can be extended with new functions and applications at any time.

ECDIS NX complies with all current standards, including the display standard IEC 62288 Edition 3, and is under continuous development to ensure ongoing compliance.
