Anschütz, an expert in navigation and bridge systems, has recently launched a new version of its SYNAPSIS NX software for the Integrated Navigation System (INS), Radar NX and ECDIS NX applications. This new software version 05.07 will also be presented at SMM 2024.
With the new SYNAPSIS NX update, Anschütz has further improved the user-friendliness and stability of the software and has created the basis for the bridge systems to comply with current and future standards. In addition to the requirements of the latest display standard IEC 62288 Edition 3, these particularly include the IACS cyber security standards UR E26 & E27. Customers will also benefit from new features supporting a safe and convenient navigation, especially for ECDIS NX and the INS.
“We have made a great leap forward with the new SYNAPSIS NX software, starting with many elements in the user interfaces and several new functions, up to an improved reliability and, above all, cyber security”, said Wilko Bruhn, Development Manager for SYNAPSIS applications at Anschütz.
The main new feature is the comprehensive and intuitive prediction mode for ECDIS NX. The smart route planning has been further improved and now offers the option of creating new routes from historical tracks. Other new functions include a significant simplification and enhancement of the handling of Automatic Identification System (AIS) targets, as well as tidal information, a pool of error to counteract the risk of jamming or spoofing, and optional features that support public authority vessels or naval vessels.
The functionality of the central services of the INS has been extended to include a security information and event management to identify anomalies in vessel systems and to initiate responses to cyber incidents. Furthermore, the system has been prepared for the integration of additional radar transceivers. In future, the Radar NX application will be ready for combination with various classic magnetron and solid-state radars to form a type-approved marine radar system. Customers will enjoy super clear radar images, an easy-to-operate user interface and comprehensive functionality.
“Our SYNAPSIS NX software underlines our commitment to the development of high-quality navigation systems that enable our customers to navigate safely, today and in the future”, said Bruhn. “We have put the new software through its paces and are proud to be able to roll it out on many of our customers’ vessels together with our integration partners.”
The INS is the central element of Anschütz's integrated bridge systems. The SYNAPSIS NX software runs on standardised hardware components and features all central functions of the bridge system, such as data management, alarm management, configuration management or the new services for cyber security. The functional scope of a bridge is defined by modular applications, making the bridge system scalable for different requirements of any ship type and easy to integrate and install.
