IAMSAR search patterns are available for the coordinated search for missing persons or vehicles involved in accidents at sea. The faster the search pattern is transferred to a route, the faster a vessel can participate in the search. In such emergencies, time is of the essence.
However, creating search patterns is not an everyday task for the bridge team. Therefore, the Search and Rescue (SAR) feature extends ECDIS NX to include search patterns that navigators can quickly and easily call up in the clearly structured menu, convert into suitable search tracks, and follow precisely on the ECDIS.
The ECDIS NX also comes with other features supporting emergency operations. If required, ECDIS NX can display the ranges of its own sensors such as cameras and sonar as an overlay (in degrees and distance with hard limits for fading out). In order to calculate a course to a person or object in distress, ECDIS NX can provide a target-related dynamic display of an interception course and the corresponding rendezvous point.
In addition to these emergency assistance functions, ECDIS NX contains a number of other functions that effectively support bridge teams in their navigational tasks and beyond. Vessels operating in the offshore and wind industries, among others, can increase their efficiency and safety by using the modular ECDIS NX features in the areas of surveillance, cooperation and emergency.
ECDIS NX is a versatile application available as a compact and cost-effective stand-alone solution or as part of integrated navigation solutions and multifunctional workstations. Standardised interfaces make it easy to integrate into new and existing system environments.
It is characterised by a modern user interface with clearly structured displays and menus. The maximum chart display provides a high level of situational awareness, while all important functions are directly available via a quick access bar. ECDIS NX is intuitive to use and is supported by easily accessible training programmes.
ECDIS NX complies with all current regulations and standards, including the display and presentation standard IEC 62288 Edition 3 and the IACS cyber security standards UR E26 & E27. Furthermore, it is continuously developed by Anschütz to meet future standards (such as S-100) and to increase customer benefits through new functionalities.
