Radar NX

Maritime collision avoidance with high performance

The Anschütz Radar NX application features a human-centred design, requiring little to no training of crew members. Radar NX features an advanced tracker and clutter suppression that both offer high-performance collision avoidance assistance under any weather and traffic conditions.

Key
Benefits

Precise radar picture for collision avoidance

Navigational safety is built upon situational awareness through a clear, precise presentation of the traffic situation. Radar NX features advanced target tracking (derived from commercial small target tracking) and patented anti-clutter technologies to optimise target detection and presentation on a razor-sharp display.

Simplified use and interpretation of the radar

Radar NX features a well-structured user interface with quick access to essential functions and helpful tools to support daily navigational routines. The optimised grouping of data and current settings facilitate the interpretation of the radar picture and enable an instant evaluation of the situation.

Support of special applications

With its excellent performance and modular range of features and options, Radar NX can meet specific customer requirements for advanced integrated navigation and mission systems. This is also supported by the flexible combination of transceivers and workstations.

Main
Features

  • Advanced target tracking, target association and target management
  • Unique automatic clutter suppression for a clear target display under any conditions (CFAR technology, “Cloud” atmospheric clutter reduction)
  • Individual PPI organisation and filtering on each console due to RAW video transmission from the transceiver to the workstation
  • Chart radar, sortable and filterable target lists, user profiles and many more features (e.g. moving draw objects, blind pilotage and prediction in conjunction with ECDIS NX)
  • Parallel Index Line (PIL) functionality with up to 99 PILs
  • Fully MED type-approved according to IEC 62388
Advanced features
  • Radar Video Merging (RVM) (and distribution to ECDIS). A “virtual transceiver” controls and merges the video of multiple radar sensors. The user is shown a single, seamless 360° image and, thus, an unobstructed radar that significantly improves collision avoidance.
  • ASTERIX server software converts and distributes raw radar videos to the ASTERIX CAT-240 radar video standard, allowing for the distribution of high-definition radar videos to end-user applications, such as oil spill detection radars, ice radars, wave radars or intrusion detection systems.
  • Special applications and naval features such as alarm zones, helicopter guidance, formation manager or camera integration are available for Radar NX. Please refer to Naval Radar NX to learn more

Flexible system design

The Radar NX application can be used as part of a single radar workstation or combined with other applications on a multifunctional workstation to offer any function at any place.

Radar NX provides a high degree of flexibility through its wide range of radar transceivers and the distribution of the raw radar video to the workstations. The system can consist of up to five active radar transceivers, eight fully redundant multifunctional workstations, and additional multifunctional displays and radar planning stations. The workstations can be equipped with high-performance small marine computers and displays in various sizes.

Radar NX can be combined with classical magnetron radars or solid-state radars:

  • Anschütz SST solid-state transceiver X-band radar with 5ft/8ft antenna
  • Anschütz SST solid-state transceiver S-band radar with 14ft antenna
  • NautoScan NX  X-band navigation radars with 6ft/8ft antenna and up/down transceiver, for high-speed crafts
Compliance with standards
  • Ethernet communication acc. to IEC 61162-450
  • Cyber security requirements acc. to IACS UR E27
  • Bridge alert management communication acc. to IEC 62923-1 and -2

Ongoing software maintenance ensures compliance with current and future standards.
