Naval Radar NX

Enhancing radar performance and capability for grey and blue forces

Naval Radar NX is an effective detection application software that enables customers to operate any radar-related task within a single, intuitive user interface – from navigation to missions such as search and rescue (SAR), policing or surveillance. The modular approach enables functionality upgrades by pure means of software according to the needs of a specific mission.

Precise radar picture from navigation to mission

Naval Radar NX offers the best, reliable radar performance in severe weather operations, small target detection, and helicopter guidance. It features raw radar video processing and advanced target tracking, clutter suppression, individual PPI organisation and filtering on each console. Navigational and tactical targets are performantly managed and associated.

Easy_familiarization
Simplified use and interpretation of the radar

Naval Radar NX features a well-structured user interface with quick access to essential functions and helpful tools to support daily navigational routines, requiring little to no training. The optimised grouping of data and current settings facilitate the interpretation of the radar and enable an instant evaluation of the situation. A chart underlay is available.

Tailored to naval requirements

Naval Radar NX enhances platform capabilities for navigation, situational awareness, helicopter guidance, and tactical operations. Its modular design and wide-range of type-approved radar sensors support operational requirements as well as fleet-wide logistics.

Main
Features

  • Advanced target tracking, target association and target management (incl. tactical targets)
  • Unique automatic clutter suppression for a clear target display under any conditions (CFAR technology, “Cloud” atmospheric clutter reduction)
  • Individual PPI organisation and filtering on each console due to RAW video transmission from the transceiver to the workstation
  • Track labelling and advanced filtering
  • Calculation of intercept point and course to steer
  • User-defined, dynamic blanking sectors
  • Parallel Index Line (PIL) functionality with up to 99 PILs
  • Fully MED type-approved according to IEC 62388
Naval features

Naval Radar NX is a perfect solution for coastguard and naval operations, from monitoring asymmetric threats and illegal activities to high-definition sea surface surveillance and short-range air surveillance for helicopter guidance and ship navigation. Its modular software design, a multitude of features and easy upgradeability offer flexibility through life.

Naval_Radar_NX_area_intrusion_detection

Area intrusion detection enables the operator to define customisable alarm and guard zones. Alarm zones are own-ship-referenced and can be defined as sectors or rings around the ship.

Naval_Radar_NX_formation_managar

Formation manager allows the operator to define any formation grids of up to 100 ships relative to each other in range and bearing, including configurable alerts and calculation of course to steer and time to intercept.

Naval_Radar_NX_Helo_approach

Helo approach enables the operator to guide the helicopter crew to the ship’s landing pad and shore-based landing areas with application aids (freely configurable landing patterns and grids).

Integration with surveillance radar

Naval Radar NX is type-approved for navigation with Terma SCANTER radars. A combined solution of SCANTER radars and Naval Radar NX software enables customers to operate any radar-related task from a single display, from navigation to missions such as SAR, policing, surveillance and more.

Terma SCANTER solid-state radars offer high-end navigation and surveillance performance. They are superior at detecting and autonomously tracking small targets as well as performing surveillance in sea-air space.

Flexible system design

The Naval Radar NX application can be used as a single workstation or combined with other navigational and tactical applications (such as WECDIS) on one or multiple multifunctional workstations, such as radar master or radar slave. The workstations can be equipped with high-performance small marine computers as well as 19”, 24”, 26” and 27” displays. A console, delivered off-the-shelf but engineered for military use, is available. The system consists of up to five active radar transceivers, eight multifunctional workstations, and additional displays and radar planning stations.

Naval Radar NX is type-approved in combination with these transceivers:

  • Terma SCANTER 2602/6002 solid-state X-band radars
  • Anschütz SST solid-state transceiver X-band radar with 5ft/8ft antenna
  • Anschütz SST solid-state transceiver S-band radar with 14ft antenna
  • NautoScan NX X-band navigation radars with 6ft/8ft antenna and up/down transceiver, for high-speed crafts
Compliance with standards
  • Ethernet communication acc. to IEC 61162-450
  • Cyber security requirements acc. to IACS UR E27
  • Bridge alert management communication acc. to IEC 62923-1 and -2

Ongoing software maintenance ensures compliance with current and future standards
