We have developed refit expertise over many years of experiences with upgrades, updates and replacements of navigation and bridge equipment from various generations and makers. Thanks to our modular system architecture and backward-compatible products, our retrofit solutions allow for the replacement of virtually any existing systems on board.

Our experienced refit specialists start with a dedicated analysis of the existing system, taking into consideration peripherals, interfaces or cabling aboard and available installation space. From the definition of the new system layout, it continues with ordering equipment, handling class approvals and taking care of factory acceptance tests and documentation until commissioning and sea trials start.

ECDIS, radar and integrated bridge system refits

Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) regulations are constantly evolving. Anschütz keeps maintaining its software in order to fulfil current and future regulations (such as S-100) and offer sustainable ECDIS solutions for safe and efficient navigation. Refit solutions are easily possible, for example, as an update or upgrade of existing hardware, a hardware replacement for major technology leaps, or a plug-&-play ECDIS package for fast and cost-effective compliance.

On the bridge, we offer smart and tailor-made refit solutions for complete integrated bridge systems and single units such as ECDIS or radar (radar application and transceivers). Backwards-compatible products in addition to the scalable and modular system architecture of our bridge simplify the replacement or expansion of existing systems. Our refit solutions are individually planned by experienced engineers and implemented reliably in close consultation with the customer, leveraging customer benefits.

Software-defined multifunctional workstations offer a true “any function at any place”-principle to adapt to situational needs. They include the latest application features, a digital logbook functionality and maintenance-free sensors. Furthermore, they support customer-specific requirements in ergonomics and design.

The integrated bridge system contains integrated functions for safe and reliable navigation. These include multifunctional workstations that enable the consistent use of validated data and alerts and promote an improved situational awareness for optimised decision-making. Navigators interact with just one single system and have full control at all times.

Autopilot and steering gear control system refits

Anschütz has carried out many refits of steering gear control systems on board merchant ships, cruise ships and special purpose vessels, among others. The refit of the autopilot to new, fuel-saving autopilots not only helps to navigate more efficiently and economically, but also to reduce emissions and improve the own CII rating.

Thanks to the high scalability of our steering gear control system, we can replace virtually any legacy system – even from other manufacturers – and adapt to a wide variety of steering gears. Before delivery, all our systems are successfully tested in a full factory acceptance test. This not only guarantees the lowest degree of risk, but also reduces installation time aboard.


Gyrocompass refits

Over the past decade, gyrocompass technology and onboard infrastructure have been continuously developed. A new gyrocompass system helps to reduce the need for regular maintenance and prevents unplanned downtimes. Refitting contributes to a more efficient ship operation. Anschütz gyrocompasses offer a perfect match for a smooth refit of outdated, unreliable and failing gyrocompass systems, no matter the manufacturer. In the past, Anschütz has replaced numerous gyrocompasses from makers such as Yokogawa, Tokyo Keiki and Sperry besides own legacy systems. 

Reduce maintenance cost and increase the lifetime of the system:
