Global presence

We support our customers through one of the world’s largest maritime service networks, and with our global offices and subsidiaries that form, together with our global headquarters the Anschütz Group.

Anschütz has the philosophy to follow the markets and its customers’ demands. Most important for ship owners worldwide is a quick and competent reaction in case of a service. In addition, customer-oriented advisory services during newbuilding programs are important. To ensure effective support at the world's largest ports, Anschütz puts strong emphasis on competent service centers with large spare parts depots. During the past years Anschütz has established international branches and subsidiaries along the most important shipping routes of the world.

From the past...

At the beginning of the 20th century, Dr. Hermann Anschütz-Kaempfe was inspired to find a new compass for ships. Supported by Albert Einstein, he researched and invented the gyro compass, after the invention he started his business Anschütz & Co in 1905. Other inventions, such as the iron helmsman, the first chart plotter and the track control system followed and revolutionized ship navigation. Most recently, the presentation of the first „Integrated Navigation System“ heralded digitization on the bridge. Today, we are a world leader in navigation systems. Every day, nautical officers on board of thousands of ships trust our compasses, autopilots, radars or ECDIS to navigate the world‘s oceans safely – above and below water.

...to the future

Anschütz develops, supplies and services a broad range of navigational products including gyro compasses, autopilots and rudder control systems for surface ships and submarines, radar systems and electronic sea charts (ECDIS), and electronic logbooks to complete integrated bridge and mission systems. With broad navigational and maritime expertise, Anschütz is also involved in international research projects, IMO working groups or industry panels such as CIRM.

Designing the future of navigation

Since the first Anschütz gyro compass has been patented, Anschütz has unveiled a number of innovations which have strongly influenced global shipping.

In the past and today, our innovations are motivated by the goal of making shipping safer and more efficient. We aim to use the new digital technologies to create value for our customers, for example by fostering the integration of functions and data, improving data exchange and offering better situational analysis, decision support assistance systems, and, above all, simplifying safe operations at sea. That is what we work on in our innovation hub and in our current maritime R&D projects.

Innovation Hub (formerly know as RAN-Dock)

Anschütz has established an own maritime innovation hub. Located in the center of the company, the innovation hub is a creative space in which employees and talents can develop new ideas or new methods of cooperation outside the established business processes. In addition to our own workforce, Anschütz also opens the space for customers, start-ups, research institutes, and others in the region who are interested in joining the experimentation room and working together on cooperative business ideas and the possibilities of digital transformation in shipping.
